A couple months ago I had the amazing opportunity to be interviewed by Mark and Charlie from Austin Horror. It just aired over at FanboyTV and is available for your consumption. It was a fun interview and I had a great time with it. We talked about Night Shall Overtake and The Headphone Bleed, as well as some of my influences. This is my first interview and first time in front of a camera, so it was extra exciting for me. I highly suggest that you check out more episodes of Austin Horror or anything else over at http://www.FanboyTV.com to get your geek on.
So without further ado, a big green dork, live from Austin:
Happy November, Everybody! I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween season. I know I did. I’d like to wish my fellow writers a happy NaNo season as well. I won’t be partaking in it because of procrastination. I kept saying I was going to do it and it did not happen. Which I am okay with because I’ve been working on short stories lately anyway. As well as my manuscript.
Going into the holiday season I would like to see it a little less of a commercial shit-pile, but I’m not holding my breath. Thanksgiving is to gather with friends and family and to be thankful for what, and whom, we have. Not carboloading for Black Friday. Which, as someone who has worked retail, can kiss my white naked ass. It’s like corporate America is hosting a type of Hunger Games for their own greed and amusement.
And then there is Christmas. As much as I love Halloween, I must admit I love the warm fuzzies of the X-mas season too. I hate that is starts in August and is a now a holiday of obligation to spend. But if Charlie Brown has taught us nothing, it’s that the spirit of the season is not in the presents we get but the feelings we hold.
And yes, I am not Christian, but I still celebrate the season. And I will say Merry Christmas because, like it or not, Christmas does exist and LOTS of people are Christian. I’m not one of those Pagans that snootily refuse to wish people a happy “whatever their holiday is” just because I have a hard-on against it. Hell, I think Jesus was a pretty swell guy. Doesn’t mean I’m obligated to believe in his dad.
…aaanyway….. I’m still writing up a storm and attempting to get some sci-fi stories published. It’s not going well. It’s all part of the process. I’ll just keep telling myself that.
tl:dr – I’m too lazy for NaNo. I like holidays but hate greed. I out myself as a Pagan. (since I’m in the mood to confess things, I also didn’t vote because there was no one I actually wanted to vote for) While I’m at it, if you want me to confess anything else, leave a comment. It’s that kind of day.
Remember kids: stay in school, don’t drink and drive, and you’ll go blind if you keep doing that.
